Tango maintains an extensive line of mills and related tools. These include the many types of mills, casing scrapers, boot baskets, cross-over subs, and ditch magnets. Mills are available with insert for heavy milling or crushed carbide for standard operations.

Specialty hydraulic actuated casing cutters and section mills are also available. Below is a summary list of mills available with their general uses.

Junk mills are generally run to remove metal debris or “fish” by milling the fish up into small pieces which can be circulated or captured by “Junk Catching” tools like Magnets, Boot Baskets, or Junk Baskets. “Fish” may include tubing, bridge plugs, packers, tong dies, roller cones and cement or other debris obstructing the wellbore. Different patterns, blades, and cutting structures are available depending on what needs to be milled.

Pilot mills are generally effective means of milling casing, liners, rotary shoes, wash pipe, or large-ID tubing. The stinger on the mill acts as a guide centering the mill inside the pipe to be milled. This help spead milling operations and reduced the likelihood of sidetracking.

Taper mills for reaming out restrictions, collapsed casing, and liner sections. May also be used for removing burs on the ID of the casing or the polished bore receptacle of a liner top.

Watermelon/string mills are used for milling collapsed areas in casing and liners, eliminating key seats and doglegs, and extending whipstock windows. Generally when they are run inside casing they will be run with a smooth OD to prevent milling a hole through the side of the casing wall.

Section mills are generally run to cut sections of casing. The may be used in P&A situations to allow the setting of a balanced plug from one wall of the wellbore to the other. They may also be used to mill out a section of casing when sidetracking out of an existing wellbore.

Internal Casing Cutters are used to make a cross sectional cut in a casing string. This is generally done if the casing above is to be pulled either during P&A work or potentially when a section of casing needs to be replaced. Smaller internal cutters are also available for cutting tubing and drill pipe.
