Tango can provide a range of Junk Catching tools depending on the type and size of junk left in the well.
Core-type junk basket
Core type (ITCO) junk baskets are used to retrieve small or oddly shaped debris from the well. Core-type junk baskets cut a core from the formation and recover the debris along with the core. This operation can be applied in soft to medium-soft formations in most hole sizes. Core-type junk baskets can be dressed with a variety of shoes, depending on formation properties and fishing objectives.
Reverse Circulating Junk Basket (RCJB)
The Reverse Circulating Junk Basket (RCJB) is similar to a Core Type Basket expect instead of cutting a core into the formation the RCJB uses reverse circulation to circulate debris from the wellbore into the tool. When the pumps are shut down the fingers on the baskets spring shut trapping any debris inside.
Boot basket
Boot baskets are useful in drilling and milling operations to catch debris that is too heavy to circulate out of the hole. The boot basket traps junk by suddenly decreasing annular velocity. This decrease occurs after the cuttings pass the larger OD of the boot to reach the smaller OD of the body and top connection. For optimum results the baskets are generally run as close as possible to the mill, bit, or junk basket, and can be run in tandem to increase the retrieval capacity.
Junk magnet
Junk magnets can be run to catch small, oddly shaped metallic debris. They are constructed so that the internal pole plate is highly magnetized, but the rest of the tool remains nonmagnetic. Junk magnets are available in most hole sizes.
Impression block
Impression blocks are used to determine the position and condition of the top of a fish or junk in a well. impression blocks feature a steel body and a lower end fitted with a block of soft material, typically lead. The tool is made up on the running string and lowered without rotation to make contact with the obstruction, leaving an impression that can be identified at surface. From this information, the appropriate fishing equipment can be selected.
Casing scrapers
Casing scrapers are used to remove paraffin, hardened mud, cement, or burrs resulting from tool runs or perforations from the inner surfaces of a tubular. They are particularly useful for cleaning up the casing before setting a packer. A broad range of casing scraper types and sizes are available for a variety of applications. Casing scrapers feature a pressure-compensated construction to resist hydrostatic and circulation pressure effects and can be operated with conventional or reverse circulation.
